Beginner Saxophone Quickstart 4 Your Second Octave on Alto Sax
Careless whisper inspired me ofc
You're right David's solo on you belong to me was unique. I knew it was him from the sound, after I researched it. 🎷
I just purchased a p mauriat 20th anniversary 67r sax. Mouthpiece hunt begins
The Aaron Drake Sanborn mouthpiece gets really close to the sound of David Sanborn. They collaborated to get that piece dialed in.
I'm new to saxophone playing. I have a hundred year old (okay, it's 98 years old, but still...) Buescher True Tone alto from 1926. Choosing mouthpieces is quite the daunting task. I wanted a good mouthpiece, and based on feedback from some players, and cost of the mouthpiece (JodyJazz mouthpieces can be expensive) I chose an HR* Custom Dark. But then, I spoke with the JodyJazz staff, and they told me the DV-HR would be a better choice, new to the world of saxophones as I am. I now have two mouthpieces, but the custom dark now sits in the case. I'm locked into the DV-HR for now. We'll see as time progresses but the DV-HR works just fine. I like it.
I must add, I find it difficult to discern a difference between 'bright' and 'dark.' Essential for me is that I get the mouthpiece to perform in a consistent manner, like what the heck is a 'dark' Bb? I'm happy to have my sax play in tune, which is what really matters to me. Does the average listener know 'dark' from 'bright' ? I dunno. I find it daunting to even tell the difference. The 'free blowing' thing takes precedence in my case, at least.
Hi Nigel , who’s the fella you’re talking with? And which company does he work for? Thanks!! 😊
Nigel was speaking to Jody Espina, the founder of Jody Jazz mouthpieces.
I don't know techniques of play

Thanks for the wisdom Joel!!!
me, wanting to learn sax so badly but i dont have a sax: mm interesting
Wonderful
¡Kojonudo, tío!
Within that price range, would you choose a tenor bettersax or the jean paul?
Just got my first saxophone!!! Lovely video helped me A LOT!
Thanks
What are you getting for the extra money if you spend more than 2000 $ for a tenor, except nicer engravings?
I was searching for playing saxophone while taking a whiff of whiskey to overcome anxiety and this video popped up..can i guess we got a 4th tips? Taking a whiff of whiskey can solve anxiety problem?😅😅😅
I’ve been trying to learn to play tenor sax for a while. I did play in my youth, and thought I’d like to get back to it in my more “ mature years”. I’d love to just play some jazzy/ funky tunes. Hope I can make it work!
I just received the Standing sax stand today to go with a used sax mute one shell, but I am missing the "U" shape hook brackets that snap on the stand. I sent an email to the company to ask for a replacement parts. To be able to use it while sitting how tall must the chair be able to do that? I'm 6 feet tall.
Love these videos! I’ve gotten back into alto sax after 14 years since high school. I’m trying to get into playing some reggae and your videos have been great for getting back into it!
The Duke Sounds great❤
Chances are that it is “you” and not the instrument. Good players make cheap instruments sound excellent. Practice makes perfect.
It sounds pretty smooth tho
Please compare this Jean Paul pro tenor to the new Better Sax tenor.
Excellent advice
I tried it and I got it it was awesome it’s one of the first things I’ve played on my buffet crampon tnat made sense 😬😬😬 I’m waiting for the next note
I found your comment about reed/backpressure very assuring for me. I have been playing a student Selmer tenor for over 2 years, I believe my Selmer has a lot of backpressure like you mentioned, I IRONICALLY use that same tip size and 2.25 legere to achieve that ease of play just as you described.
The right thumb hook issue l have solved it on all my horns. I have had a machinist made thumb hooks which raise it higher very close to the guard for the F sharp trill key. This feels much more comfortable to me.
Hi to everyone! Really sure this one is gonna be a good one!
Even though I've just been playing the tenor sax for about two months, my low D and middle D have the same pitch of 260 Hz. How can I get past it?
Cool lesson. Even though I've just been playing the tenor sax for about two months, my low D and middle D have the same pitch of 260 Hz. How can I get past it?
Thanks for the lesson.. um gonna get back to it as soon as i get a saxophone
Great Teaching
I don't even own a saxophone, yet youtube recommended me this short. If I ever start playing, I'll know where to look for great saxophone tips!
I played alto im small and it aint that special
This has no content. Why even post it.
To quick for me..😂
Pink. Floyd.
Julian smith on Britain’s got talent
Just returning to these after a year away. Please forgive the very stupid question ….ovtavator exercises… do these without using the octave key itself right?
I do like your playing but this vid is a bit boring, sorry
Great for practicing finger work, dynamics, and articulation. You can exercise your embouchure, but no perfect it. Responsiveness is also very good. Occasionally squeaks a high pitch/screech. You can connect to your mobile phone and hear your phone music through the TS2 headset which is great for practicing silently. The main concern is that the bluetooth connection requires Location permission. This may be a privacy issue since other bluetooth apps don't require Location permission. The other problem is that you cannot pair while in airplane mode while earbuds, watches, and other BT devices can. When flying, you must pair TS2 to your phone before you activate airplane mode. Alternatively, you can use one ear to listen to one of the earpieces connect to the TS2 and your other ear to use one of your bluetooth earbuds. You will not be able to change any settings (eg alto to tenor) without being connected to your phone app. I have reached out to Odisei several times with no explanation other than you need Location permission.
Sick
Very helpful, thanks very much!
